This sucks. I been having cravings all day long, especially after school while heading home with a hot chocolate in my hands and nice, autumn weather.

However, I resisted the temptation. Quitting smoking is not for the weak.........let's see how weak I am. So far I feel stronger than He-Man......

I am going to bed hoping that this Champix prescription to quit smoking does not put me to dream again like a 4 year old who just saw The Shining.

However, I feel free....

Day 2

It's me again. During the day I had some lows and highs. In the morning I was pretty cool w/o a cigarette. But after class, around 4:00 pm I desperately needed one. I went to the cafeteria, bought a cup of tea and grabbed some straws to start chewing on them. It worked.

When I got home my wife was also desperate for a cigarette, so we decided to go out for a run. Nice! After running and a quick shower, I went to a social-school-work event. Food and drinks, it was pretty nice. When I got out to the cold, after eating spicy food and a couple of drinks.........man I wanted a smoke! I just started walking really fast so my heart rhythm would go up. To some extent it worked. When I got home I drank two glasses of water and another cup of tea (Jasmine and green tea, love it!).

Right now I am working on a paper, and the cravings come and go, but they are not that bad. My house smells delicious!

Just quit!

Welcome to my blog, where we can all share our experiences and successes when trying to quit smoking!

Today I quited smoking. I feel pretty damn good. For the past week I been smoking between 3-8 cigarretes per day. In my previous life I use to smoke around 12-14. My smoking life lasted 16 years. Currently I am 32.

What I did today?

Woke up, made breakfast. Chat with my wife, who is also in the process of quitting. Afterwards, I sat down and read for a bit, did some homework (I am a student at MIT). After duty, I had lunch, opened my blog, and in about 30 minutes I am heading to my Yoga class.

So far the cravings have been moderate, drinking tons of water helps! I feel free but at times sad. After all, cigarrettes where an important part of my life for more than 15 years......I am committed to clean myself.

Here are a couple of links that I found useful. The first one contains is more motivational. Watch the ads, especially the one about the coronary. Is really impressive.

The second link is to a more technical site, with statistics and general info about smoking.
